Disney’s "The Odd Life of Timothy Green"

Last night I attended the advance screening of Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green. I loved this movie and all of lessons it taught!

“The Odd Life of Timothy Green” is an inspiring, magical story about a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton), who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim—and their small town of Stanleyville—learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.

Like most parents, I hope my child has the wonderful qualities Cindy and Jim Green wanted in their child … perseverance, funny, honest, loving, artistic and simply to rock! My child may or may not be exactly the person I imagined her to be, but she is a miracle. Parenting is about understanding that my child’s imperfections is what makes her perfect. As a parent, I don’t want to make any of the mistakes my parents made with me, instead I will make my own parenting mistakes and learn from them just like my daughter will learn from me.

The cast in The Odd Life of Timothy Green was excellent! I have always liked Jennifer Garner and I believe her experience as a mother is what made her really shine in this movie. Joel Edgerton was that perfect combination of strong, vulnerable and thoughtful. CJ Adams plays a sweet and soulful boy who makes you want to hug and protect him. Odeya Rush, who plays Timothy’s love interest, is simply gorgeous.

On a personal note, I feel like this movie really is for adults even though it is rated PG. I opted not to bring Princess D after I found out that a grandparent passes away in the film (it is just too soon for her). Also, the subject matter of a married couple unable to conceive, the difficulties of adoption and the loss of a child might not make sense to kids.

Lastly, I took my mom to the screening. She gives this movie ZERO snores … it is a must see!
