Universal Studios is celebrating their 100th anniversary with the release of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial on Blu-ray™ tomorrow, October 9th. It has been 30 years since Steven Spielberg first introduced the lost alien. I remember after I saw this movie in the theater with my best friend we pretended that my dog was E.T. We would drape her in a pillowcase and tell her to “phone home.” Now, my daughter is doing the same thing with our dog! This movie still has the ability to capture the imagination and teach us about endearing friendship.
The bonus features on the combo pack are excellent! I loved watching the deleted and behind the scenes footage, the interview with Steven Spielberg, and the cast reunion. It also features an all-new, digitally remastered picture of the 1982 theatrical movie, an UltraViolet™, a DVD and a Digital Copy of the film.
Also, coming out tomorrow on DVD is the 30-year anniversary collectors’ set of Care Bears: The Original Series Collection. Lionsgate is releasing a limited edition 6-DVD set features 64 classic episodes and a full-length movie — starring Cheer Bear, Share Bear, Tenderheart Bear and all of the Care Bear Cousins.
