I love food and am always searching for restaurants that serve healthy and organic dishes. Encinitas has some of the best restaurants in San Diego that offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes including Naked Cafe and Lotus Cafe. Well, there is a new vegan restaurant in town …

Native Foods Cafe

A couple of weeks ago I met up with the San Diego Bloggers group to try the new Encinitas location. We each were treated to a drink, starter, main dish and dessert. I loved everything I tried:

Lavender Lemonade was not too sweet, and incredibly refreshing. The homemade drinks alone are worth stopping into Native Foods Cafe!

Saigon Roll served with a peanut sauce was my favorite of everything I tried. I have been craving them ever since.

Bangkok Curry Bowl was packed with brown rice (you can substitute with quinoa), vegetables and strips of tofu. The sauce was not too spicy or over powering. Next time I get this dish I will ask for more sauce!

Double Delight Brownie was so chocolately and moist.

The restaurant is located in a busy shopping center with lots of parking. The interior is colorful and lots of seating. There is an outdoor patio which will be perfect on those warm summer nights. Make sure to pick up their monthly newsletter to get some fantastic recipes.

Not a vegan? Don’t worry. Even meat eaters will like Native Foods Cafe! The menu describes what the plant-based protein “meat” items are and what the Native Cheese consists of. You won’t even be able to tell the difference, but you will feel less guilty after you walk out of there with a full belly.

I can’t wait to go back to try the Soul Bowl and Homemade Apple Pie and have Princess D try the Freddie’s Mac and Cheese.

Special thanks to Native Foods Cafe for treating me to a wonderful dinner. All statements are my opinion and my opinion only. I did not receive any other form of compensation.
