I have a job interview this afternoon! Of course I want to make a good impression, so I got a new blouse and have been preparing my interview questions. The final touch was whitening my teeth.

After years of drinking tea my teeth are not as white as they used to be. I have always wanted to have my dentist whiten my teeth, but the cost has kept me from getting it done.

NovaWhite is a really simple way to whiten your teeth at home. The first step is to create your own whitening trays, but somehow I managed to screw up the mold for my bottom teeth. The directions say to place the mold in boiling water for 5 – 15 seconds then to mold it to either you bottom or top teeth. What it didn’t realize is that the mold gets so pliable that it can stick together and is impossible to pull it apart without destroying it. As you can see from the picture my second try went much better!

Once your bite tray is made you just need to put the gel in it then stick the tray on your teeth. I was using 22% strength Carbamide Peroxide whitening gel, so I figured I should only keep the stuff on for an hour (instead of the maximum 3 hours). After a few minutes of the having the gel on my teeth I felt a biting sensation on my gums. The taste of the gel was minty, but I kept salivating and didn’t want to swallow the gel. After an hour I removed the tray and gel from my mouth. The gums around my teeth feel a bit raw and my teeth are sensitive to temperature (so no Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich for me tonight), but my teeth are noticeably whiter!
