in So You Think You Can Dance

Last week So You Think You Can Dance was on a break for the All Star Game, so two weeks ago I had predicted that BluPrint for the guys and Alexis for the girls would be cut. I was right about the guy, but I was wrong about the girl. I am bummed that Mariah was cut. I thought she was spectacular and could have gone far in this season’s competition.

Did you vote for either of them? Do you think they deserved to go home?

So You Think You Can Dance Season 10 Top 14

Alexis (Tap) & Nico (Contemporary)
Choreographer: Melanie Lapatin & Tony Meredith
Style: Jive

For some reason this routine didn’t keep my attention. The flicks were quick, but it didn’t seem very bouncy. The lifts were pretty smooth. I don’t know … it was just ok for me.

Jenna (Ballroom) & Tucker (Contemporary)
Choreographer: Travis Wall
Style: Contemporary

Those straps were not cooperating with them, but what a gorgeous routine with a pair of beautifully technical dancers. This performance did pull at my heart strings. I actually felt emotionally exhausted after watching it.

Mariah (Hip Hop) & BluPrint (Animation)
Choreographer: Brian Friedman
Style: Jazz

She was incredible! Her character and emotion showed in her face. I would have like to seen more emotion on his face. At times he needed more raw with animal like movements. BUT … he did really well in a style he has never, ever done.

Malece (Contemporary) & Alan (Latin Ballroom)
Choreographer: Dave Scott
Style: Hip Hop

She is so tiny, but full of hard hitting movements! As my daughter said, she is tiny but mighty. Another week she has been amazing. This is the first week I wasn’t impressed by him. It kind of reminded me of seeing an very white guy on a dance floor trying to dance with a smoking hot girl.

Hayley (Contemporary) & Curtis (Tap)
Choreographer: Dee Caspary
Style: Contemporary

I thought it was an interesting prop to put these dancers on. It always worries me how props might take away from from the dancing. The dancing was good, especially the partnering. I really can’t speak to what the judges said about his shoulders because I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She might be a dark horse in this season …

Amy (Contemporary) & Fik-Shun (Hip Hop)
Choreographer: Tyce DiOrio
Style: Jazz

So so so so good! I loved every second of this routine. From the synchronized side by side moves to the little facial expressions and head movements. You can see how much they trust each other in partnering. Their personalities shine in their characters. This performance blew me away. I LOVED IT!

Makenzie (Contemporary) & Paul (Latin Ballroom)
Choreographer: Dave Scott
Style: Hip Hop

That was pretty damn hot! They were both hard hitting and sultry at the same time. They embodied their characters which looked like they stepped out of The Great Gatsby movie.

Jasmine H. (Contemporary) & Aaron (Tap)
Choreographer: Melanie Lapatin & Tony Meredith
Style: Quick Step

They are so good and they did this style was proud! That synchronized leap foot flick thing (have no idea what it would be called) was so light and perfectly timed. Their flips and lifts were effortless. They were having fun and had so much trust with each other. Another perfect couple!

My favorite routine of the night: Amy & Fik-shun in Tyce DiOrio’s Jazz routine
Who did I vote for: Malece, Amy, Fik-shun, Aaron and Jasmine
My prediction of who is going home: Curtis for the guys and Alexis for the girls

Do you agree with me? Disagree? I want to know!
